Hey everybody. So I have some good news and bad news. The good news is that I will be playing PDL this summer. The bad news is that I will not have a Vaquero patch on my jersey. I have recently committed with a local team up here in L.A. I am sacrificing a lot to continue my playing career at the highest level as I possibly can.
I will be playing with the So Cal Seahorses a PDL team that plays up here in L.A. Because of the time commitment I will be spending all of my summer up here living on a couch in a friends house. Not my ideal living conditions but i have to start somewhere.
Just filling you guys in. And no worries Poway is still one of my favorite places. The community is amazing, especially the coaches, familes, and players. Poway from what I have noticed is even though it is a small place population wise. The community is amazing in supporting soccer, this really motivated me in my younger years. That was ever present when many of my teammates won the CIF title while going to the CIF state finals.

GOD BLESS,
Aaron

Hey guys. Everything is going well up here in LA. We started training for our spring season 3 weeks ago, and let me tell you it is the hardest training I have ever gone through. Here is a sample of our daily schedule.

Monday- Crossfit 7-8am Weights 3-4
Tuesday- Team Training 4:30-7
Wednesday- Weights 3-4 Skills training 4-6
Thursday- Team Training 4:30-7
Friday: Crossfit 7-8 am Weights 3-4
Saturday- training or games
Sundays-Off

Things are starting to get harder and harder. Our strength coach tells us that if we are able to work for each other in the weight room then we will be able to work for each other on the field. At this time with having a young team it is nice to see that we are willing to go the extra mile for each other.
For all the young players I hope you are working the extra for yourself and for one another. Everything you do now as a player on the field will determine how you will be on the field later. This is a lesson I have learned while playing for Poway many times. Also for those players that are reading this thank your parents for all they do in your life. You have no idea the sacrifices they make in their lives to allow you to play soccer. I did not realize the sacrifices my parents made for me until I was about 17. So thank them for that.
Take care everyone hope school and soccer is going well for everyone.

Hey guys the spring season is about to start up. I just wanted to fill you guys in on where I am headed in the future and where the team is as well. First off our team is planning a trip to Brazil this summer. This would be a missions trip for a couple of days, then we will be heading to one of the most prestigious soccer academies in the world. The academy is located just outside the city of Soa Paulo. Many of the worlds top teams come there for preseason training including, the England national team, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and also including major universities from the U.S. This is a great opportunity for me to see the game from one of the best soccer playing countries in the world. We are unsure if hom long the trip will last as far as the missionary standpoint, but we are staying at the soccer academy for 15 days.
It should be fun. Hope training is going well for everyone!

We made it into the conference tournament. In doing so we would have to play the number 2 seed in Concordia University of Irvine. On Tuesday I earned Golden State Athletic Conference Defensive player of the week. Which to me is a great accomplishment in itself since I am a freshman. Soccer is going great and i was very happy to see a couple of families make their way out to El Cajon. It really meant a lot to me, knowing that the club I grew up playing in is willing to come to my college games. Really I have a lot of respect for the Vaquero club. Hope all is well with you all.

Right now we sit near the end of the table in our league. We lost another game which was a 1-0 loss to the 5th ranked team in the country. Then we tied another power 1-1. Everything is going nice and smooth right now our team realizes that in order to make it into playoffs we need to preform these next few games.
I am now starting so I am really excited. To be in the starting 11 while being a freshman goalkeeper is something that I have had to work for. Nothing comes easy I have had been able to put sweat out on the field just knowing that maybe when the time comes the coaches will notice.
We come and play in San Diego on November the first at San Diego Christian College at noon. So if your free you will be able to enjoy watching 3 former Vaquero players in action.

Our team is very young and at times we can lose our discipline. In the last three games we have given up 8 goals which is not something to be happy about. Once we get scored on we drop our heads and we can never pick up our game. Soccer is not going to well, but that's okay. I can not let the game get in my head. Soccer sometimes has its frustrating moments, but you have to learn to get over it and just play the game.
Anyways other than soccer everything is going good we have midterms right now which means a lot of test and essays. Looking at it I don't mind to much because after this week we are free until finals in December.

Since we are in league now our opponents will only get harder from here on out. We suffered our first loss of league and our second loss overall to Vanguard. The score was 1-0, but the scoreline does not represent how the play really was. Both us and Vanguard did not play to particularly well. Their goal in the 20th minute was enough to win the game. Much of this game was played in the midfield so there were low amounts of shots and goal scoring opportunities.
We then played Point Loma Nazarene at home on Saturday. We won the game 3-2 with two pk goals. This game i have to say might have been one of the most productive offensive games we have had thus far. There were a lot of break-aways and goal scoring opportunities. This was one heck of a game one that I was kinda disappointed in some aspects but happy in other aspects. I was disappointed that all I could do was observe the game from the bench. But at the same time being a fan of soccer I am able to say this was a game I was happy to watch any time based off the quality that was preformed on the field.
Now in this up coming week we will be playing 2 nationally ranked teams. The first being Fresno Pacific in Fresno. They are currently ranked the #2 team in NAIA. Then on Saturday we play Concordia of Irvine at home. They are Currently ranked #8 in NAIA. So this week fir me will be full of excitment preparing for a long trip and also getting ready for exams and the many essays that are due. College is yet a handful to me but also a chance to find something new about yourself. For those young players out there soccer should not be the priority at the moment. Focus on your school work so your able to have a great time in collge weather your an athlete or not. Well wish us luck, and hopefully we will be able to see you guys around the pitch sometime soon. Go Vaqueros!!!!
