We made it into the conference tournament. In doing so we would have to play the number 2 seed in Concordia University of Irvine. On Tuesday I earned Golden State Athletic Conference Defensive player of the week. Which to me is a great accomplishment in itself since I am a freshman. Soccer is going great and i was very happy to see a couple of families make their way out to El Cajon. It really meant a lot to me, knowing that the club I grew up playing in is willing to come to my college games. Really I have a lot of respect for the Vaquero club. Hope all is well with you all.

Right now we sit near the end of the table in our league. We lost another game which was a 1-0 loss to the 5th ranked team in the country. Then we tied another power 1-1. Everything is going nice and smooth right now our team realizes that in order to make it into playoffs we need to preform these next few games.
I am now starting so I am really excited. To be in the starting 11 while being a freshman goalkeeper is something that I have had to work for. Nothing comes easy I have had been able to put sweat out on the field just knowing that maybe when the time comes the coaches will notice.
We come and play in San Diego on November the first at San Diego Christian College at noon. So if your free you will be able to enjoy watching 3 former Vaquero players in action.

Our team is very young and at times we can lose our discipline. In the last three games we have given up 8 goals which is not something to be happy about. Once we get scored on we drop our heads and we can never pick up our game. Soccer is not going to well, but that's okay. I can not let the game get in my head. Soccer sometimes has its frustrating moments, but you have to learn to get over it and just play the game.
Anyways other than soccer everything is going good we have midterms right now which means a lot of test and essays. Looking at it I don't mind to much because after this week we are free until finals in December.

Since we are in league now our opponents will only get harder from here on out. We suffered our first loss of league and our second loss overall to Vanguard. The score was 1-0, but the scoreline does not represent how the play really was. Both us and Vanguard did not play to particularly well. Their goal in the 20th minute was enough to win the game. Much of this game was played in the midfield so there were low amounts of shots and goal scoring opportunities.
We then played Point Loma Nazarene at home on Saturday. We won the game 3-2 with two pk goals. This game i have to say might have been one of the most productive offensive games we have had thus far. There were a lot of break-aways and goal scoring opportunities. This was one heck of a game one that I was kinda disappointed in some aspects but happy in other aspects. I was disappointed that all I could do was observe the game from the bench. But at the same time being a fan of soccer I am able to say this was a game I was happy to watch any time based off the quality that was preformed on the field.
Now in this up coming week we will be playing 2 nationally ranked teams. The first being Fresno Pacific in Fresno. They are currently ranked the #2 team in NAIA. Then on Saturday we play Concordia of Irvine at home. They are Currently ranked #8 in NAIA. So this week fir me will be full of excitment preparing for a long trip and also getting ready for exams and the many essays that are due. College is yet a handful to me but also a chance to find something new about yourself. For those young players out there soccer should not be the priority at the moment. Focus on your school work so your able to have a great time in collge weather your an athlete or not. Well wish us luck, and hopefully we will be able to see you guys around the pitch sometime soon. Go Vaqueros!!!!

Well we suffered our first defeat this season with a 4-0 loss to Embry Riddle University. Although I would not say that we played bad, but we just could not finish our opportunities. The good news that came out of the game was that I received my first collegiate minutes in the net. Where I recorded 2 saves without allowing a goal.
We also played our first conference game of the season. We ended up tying 1-1 in double OT. We dominated much of the game, but we came up short in putting the ball in the back of the net. This game had to be one of the most exciting games I have ever been apart of. The over all play was amazing, and the atmosphere was unbeatable.

Hey guys we are now 5-0-0 which sets a school record for best start of a season. We won our third game of the season 2-0, our fourth 2-1, and our fifth was 4-1. These two goals were the only goals given up by our team thus far. We are currently on a road trip to Prescott Arizona, where we are going to take on Embry Riddle University of Prescott. After this game we are going to start our league. Hope to see you guys sometime soon around the soccer field.

Hey guys. We are doing well up here at Biola. Although we both haven't had the opportunity to play our team is succeeding with flying colors. This week we played 2 games both those games we won 1-0. Which pushes us to a 2-0-0 record in the regular season. Our team is more defensive minded, but we have our chances in front of net and the ball just seems like it doesnt like to fall our way. Anyways we play 2 games next week again so I will fill you in after those are done.

The Season Starts
Well our pre-season is over we finished with the record of 1-1. Noah and I received little playing time, but as freshman it is sometimes hard to break into the starting line up with a lot of quality players on the team. We are having an amazing time. Also both of us are glad that our years of hard work both in the class, and out on the field ended with a great situation.
Wednesday we start our regular season with a home Game against Chapman a Division III school. It should be a fun atmosphere and I cant wait to see how games are going to be at BIOLA

Introduction
Hey everybody! My name is Aaron Fenlason, and for the next 4 months I will be letting you guys know how my training and match play in college is going. My roommate (Noah Hoegberg), and I will be filling everybody in on the ins and outs of college soccer.
Basic Info- Noah and I have been great friends since we first met in our freshman year at Rancho Bernardo High School. Noah joined up with the Vaqueros in 2004. Whereas I have been in the Vaquero family since 1996. We both are attending Biola University, a small private University in the LA area, where both of us will be playing. Noah is a central midfielder, and I am a goalkeeper.
Favorite Memories of Being a Vaquero- We both had the opportunity to venture to Sweden last summer. We were fortunate enough to meet a lot of interesting people, and to be in an environment solely devoted to soccer. Let me tell you it was an amazing experience. We played against teams from Sweden, Norway, and Germany. Our team bowed out in the quarterfinals in penalty kicks. It was something that we both will never forget.
Shoutouts- We both had an amazing time playing for the Vaqueros. We would just like to thank the coaches of the Vaquero family for always supporting every team. Coach Craig and Jean thanks for everything that you did to help us grow on the soccer field. To our Vaquero teammates and family members thanks for everything you did for us both on and off the field. To the community thank you for supporting us from the very Beginning.
We will be filling out this blog every once in a while. More than likely once a week, and sometimes more than once depending on a couple of factors. Thank you to everybody and we both look forward to your comments.
